Young Astronomers Shows are held on the second Saturday of every month at 11am, excluding August.

Ticket availability

40 seats are reservable here on Eventbrite the Sunday prior to the show, beginning at noon. The additional 20 seats will be available at the door for walk-ins on the day of the show.  If you reserve your seats on Eventbrite please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the show.  Unclaimed seats will be released at this time. We recommend arriving 30 minutes before the show to line up for walk-in tickets.

Lap Seating for toddlers

If your have a child small enough to sit on your lap you are welcome to do so and that child will not need an additional ticket.  We do have a minimum reservation of 2 seats to make sure parents stay with children, but lap seating will allow more walk-in guests to join us.  Just let us know at the door so we keep a proper count of available seats!

Finding the Planetarium on Wayne State University's Campus

The planetarium is located on the lower lever of the Old Main building - the building with the clock tower on the corner of Cass and Warred Avenues in Detroit. If you enter through the main entrance on Cass Avenue, take the stairs down and walk straight ahead - you'll see the Planetarium murals and our double doors - room 0209.

Looking for our general audience shows?

The planetarium also offers free shows geared toward an older audience on Friday nights.  You can find tickets for those shows on our main eventbrite page.

Interested in bringing a large group to the planetarium?

The planetarium can be reserved for private showings for school groups, scout troops, birthday parties or by other organizations for a fee. Please complete our group reservation form for more information and to begin the scheduling process.
