Yoga With Koga fundraiser for Pan African Sanctuary Alliance (PASA)

PASA  (https://www.pasaprimates.org/)is a network of sanctuaries throughout Africa that work together to care for displaced and orphaned non-human primates. Comprised of 22 sanctuaries in 13 countries, PASA strives to support these sanctuaries through training, education, and outreach. Every year, PASA brings together the directors of these sanctuaries for a meeting and training session, oftentimes bringing experts from the United States and Europe to provide guidance and support. Many zoos support PASA. We now have the opportunity to “adopt” a sanctuary. By raising $2000 each year, we can cover the cost of sending one sanctuary director to the annual conference. We have been paired with the Limbe Wildlife Centre in Cameroon (http://limbewildlife.org/), one of only a handful of sanctuaries that cares for orphaned gorillas.

The Buffalo Zoo is collaborating with Canisius College and Yoga Parkside to put on this fundraiser. It is our hope to make Yoga with Koga an annual event, with all proceeds going to our partner PASA sanctuary, Limbe.

This year, we are planning a 4-hour event on Sunday, April 15th from 11am – 3pm. We will offer a yoga class, provide healthy snacks, have a basket raffle, and we will have a variety of items available for sale, such as PASA t-shirts and gorilla paintings.   All guests enter through the front gates.

The schedule for this event is as follows:

• 11:00am- Opening of Event
• 11:30am- 12:30pm: Yoga Session
• 12:30pm-1:00pm: Snack time, Basket Auction, etc
• 1:00pm- 2:00pm: Yoga Session
• 2:00pm-3:00pm: Snack time, Basket Auction, etc
