A two day practical workshop on the fundamentals of funny
where you will:
-
learn practical tips on comedy writing, stolen from some of world’s finest comic minds
-
analyse some of the greatest comedy moments way beyond the point where they are still funny
-
do exercises where you get to explore your own ideas and pull famous peoples’ scripts apart for fun.
We will be addressing all the burning questions, such as:
What makes a character comical? Where will you find the funny in your script?
How can you structure stories to be innately humorous?
How do jokes actually work?
And why, in the blessed name of God, is Mrs Brown’s Boys so popular?
Whether you’re writing for stage, TV or radio, the fundamentals of funny are the same. So if you have a brain buzzing with ideas, a hard drive jammed with unfinished scripts or just a pathological need to make people laugh, then this workshop could be for you.
Honestly - we don’t want to blow our own trumpet or anything - but if you don’t leave these two days knowing loads and feeling inspired then we'll eat frogs - not really.
We’d love to see you.
