Since the election of President Donald Trump, writers around the country have gathered together under the banner of Writers Resist to "defend the ideals of a free, just, and compassionate democracy". On Tuesday, March 28th, The Unspoken Word community will host "Writers Resist: Poetry for Democracy" at PURE Theater. This event will feature incredible local writers and activists who will speak their truth about the policies of the Trump administration and empower audience members to get involved with local activism opportunities.

Poets will include South Carolina Poet Laureate Marjory Wentworth, Matthew Foley, Saeed Jones, Bryan Serrano, Cory Stegelin, Danielle DeTiberus, Maya Green, Queen Christine, Matt Hampton, Oneil Abercrombie, and Nick Thompson.

Local organizations include Southerners on New Ground, Center for Women, We Are Family, #BlackLivesMatter, and Lowcountry Homeless Coalition.

This event is FREE!
