Work Ready Youth

At Building Bridges Consulting, we truly care about your ability to succeed in the workforce.

We want to make sure that you are armed with the knowledge, skills, attitude, and resources you need to successfully get and keep a job.

We have noticed that many student applicants make some of the exact same critical mistakes that may prevent them from being hired.

This may or may not be you; however, we wanted to extend this invitation to all students so that you never make these mistakes.

In this 100% free job readiness training, you will learn how to:

  • Communicate your transferable skills

  • Find jobs you actually want to do

  • Complete a job applcation or questionnaire

  • Compose a quality resume

  • Make a good first impression

  • Respond appropriately to interview questions

  • Stand out from other applicants

You will walk away from this training knowing exactly how to land your dream job!

Who should attend?

  • High school & College Students ages 14-26
  • Parents & Guardians of Students who want to improve their career outlook
  • Program leaders and others interested in bringing this program to your organization

What should I bring?

  • A pen and notebook or paper to take notes
  • Current copy of your resume if you have one
  • A winning attitude
  • A willingness to learn

Scheduled Agenda:

9:30 AM - 10:00 AM: Check-in & Introductions

10:00 AM - 10:30 AM: Attitude & First Impressions

10:30 AM - 11:00 AM: Transferable Skills

11:00 AM - 11:30 AM: Permission to Dream

11:30 AM - 12:00 PM:Your Job Search

12:00 PM - 12:45 PM: Lunch (on your own)

12:45 PM - 1:30 PM: Applying to Jobs

1:30 PM - 2:00 PM: Really Good Resumes

2:15 PM - 2:30 PM: Break

2:30 PM - 3:30 PM: Interview Prep

3:30 PM - 4:00 PM: The Fortune is in the Follow-Up

4:00 PM - 4:15 PM: Q&A

4:15 PM: Dismissed!

Please arrive promptly by 9:30 AM so we can stay on track with our schedule and dismiss on time.

FAQs

 

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Accessible by CTA Brown Line train to Diversey or bus lines 76 Diversey, 22 Clark, and 8 Halsted.

Will there be meals and refreshments provided?

There will be a 45-minute lunch break on your own. Please either purchase your lunch from Next Door Cafe or feel free to visit a neighboring restaurant. You may eat any food you purchased from Next Door in our training room; however, no outside food or drink is allowed. All meals and refreshments will be your responsibility and are NOT provided.

  

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, but you must be registered to attend. We will check you in electronically.
