Marin Alsop, conductor Wordsmith, spoken word artist REENA ESMAIL New Work (World Premiere) BEETHOVEN Symphony No. 9, “Choral” The season closes with Beethoven’s ode to joy, the Ninth Symphony, which conveys his message about humankind. Reimagining the Ninth Symphony as a 21st-century call for unity, justice, and empowerment, Marin Alsop, the BSO and members of the rich musical community of Baltimore boldly interpret Beethoven’s ideas in response to today’s world.
