Fairmount Park Conservancy offers opportunities to get into the woods and discover some of the hidden gems of our park system with a wonderful hike leader, Brad Maule. Enjoy unique hikes through exciting parts of the park you may have not explored before. Please note that these are moderately challenging hikes and we strongly encourage the use of proper hiking shoes and packing yourself plenty of water and snacks for the journey! $15 for non-members.Free for members of Fairmount Park Conservancy (membership starts at $35/year and includes year-round events).Fairmount Park Conservancy members may sign up one person per hike with any membership level under $100. 2019 HIKE DATES/LOCATIONS:Please note that different dates correspond to different places in the park!MT. AIRY'S GREATEST HITS: Saturday, February 23rd 10:00am - 1:00pm Meets at Allen Lane Train Station. SEPTA Chestnut Hill West arrives at 9:47am.Head for the Wissahickon and join Brad Maule for a loop hike of the park's greatest hits. We'll descend the Cresheim Valley, stop at Devil's Pool, cross Fingerspan, and come back into civilization through Carpenter's Woods. Meet at Allen Lane train station. Ride the Chestnut Hill West Line there, or you can bike or drive. Parking is available on Cresheim Road, Nippon Street, and Mt Airy Ave near Allen Lane train station. Please do NOT park in the train station, as it is used for the High Point Café inside. This hike is snow or shine! CONFLUENCE HIKE Sunday, March 24th 10:00am - 1:00pm Meets at Fairmount Park parking lot, 4900 Ridge Ave (next to Wissahickon Transportation Center). 11 buses stop here in each direction. SEPTA Manayunk/Norristown train arrives just up the hill.The lowest reach of the Wissahickon is lined with magic as it heads into the Schuylkill. This hike takes place 3 days after the spring equinox and sews together geography, industrial history, mystic monks, Norman Rockwell, and a park that doesn't exist yet with the same thread. Total length is around 4.5 miles and 2.5 hours; there are some challenging hills, so wear sturdy shoes and come ready to hit the trail. This hike is snow or shine! CRESHEIM CREEK LOOP: Wednesday, May 15th 6:00pm - 8:00pm (as part of Love Your Park Week!)Meets at Allen Lane Train Station. Partial tour of the Cresheim Creek Trail. Meet at Allen Lane Station at 5:45pm for an abridged loop hike that starts and ends at Allen Lane Train station. Ride the Chestnut Hill West Line there, or you can bike or drive. Parking is available on Cresheim Road, Nippon Street, and Mt Airy Ave near Allen Lane train station. CHESTNUT HILL SPECIAL Sunday, June 23rd 10:30am - 1:30pm (please note the 10:30am start time!)Meets at Chestnut Hill West StationNote: Riding the train is strongly encouraged - SEPTA's Chestnut Hill West Line drops you off at the beginning of the hike. The 23, 77, and L buses also stop here. If you drive, the Chestnut Hill Parking Foundation's purple lot is the closest to the station. You might also find street parking on Hilltop Road. MT.
