Expository Writing Lecturer and poet Don Berger and his wife, Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences Cindy Moss, will host students at their home for dinner and a discussion of two excerpts from Walt Whitman’s 19th-century masterpiece poem, “Song of Myself”: A child said, What is the grass”, which is a Common Question source and “I think I could turn and live with animals.” To conclude, Cindy will offer her scientific perspective on Whitman’s view of animal intelligence. Her work on auditory communication in bats, conducted in JHU’s Batlab, is a Common Question source this year!
