Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT), which launched a successful slate of acting classes last fall, is accepting applications now for Scene and Monologue Study, a deeper study of the craft of acting. Designed for intermediate to advanced actors, it will be taught by AEA/SAG-AFTRA actor and director Bob Rogerson, best known for his roles in several popular Nickelodeon TV series.

Rogerson’s classes offer tailored individuated instruction, addressing specific issues based on each actor’s strengths and needs. Classes meet Mondays for eight weeks, February 26 - April 16th, from 7:00-10:30 pm. Students will have the option of continuing the study through three more sessions in 2018 - late spring, summer and fall.

Rogerson has been teaching acting for more than 20 years and has performed in over 100 productions, more than 80 under the auspices of Actors’ Equity Association. He holds an MFA from The Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Academy for Classical Acting in Washington, DC.

He integrates an eclectic mix of traditional and modern acting methods drawing from early and late Stanislavski as well as physical acting, voice and ear training.

“It’s never ‘one-size fits all.’ The goal is to identify and apply appropriate choices grounded in the text in order to create a complete living, breathing character,” says Rogerson.

The response to classes has been enthusiastic. Rebecca Werner, an NYU Tisch School graduate currently employed in sound engineering for theater, says: “The class definitely lived up to my expectations. Bob is very well qualified, and gave each student individual attention, making the bar unique to each student.”

Actor Christine Fonsale who has performed leading roles in numerous productions for over 10 years, credits the class with preparing her for an audition for a professional theater company, which resulted in her joining the ensemble. Says Fonsale, “The best kind of teacher is the type who has vast knowledge and experience and loves to share it. That’s Bob. He is so passionate about acting and teaching acting, that he is completely infectious.”

Classes take place in WCT’s black box performance space at 23 Water Street in Ossining.

Class size is very limited; early registration is suggested.
