Most Autism community support groups are basically topical discussion, this what AA would refer to as a "sharing" meeting. We learn about ourselves primarily through discussing how are week has gone, what we are going through right now and what we can do to improve our quality of life.
This meeting is for everyone in the Autism community. One of the biggest problems that I've observed since being diagnosed in 2009 is that there's a lot of misunderstanding between Autistics & non-Autistics. The only way that we can gain mutual understand of each other is to sit together and discuss these issues.
For a better understanding of what I'm purposing, please view the following PDFs:
Small Group Models: This is an commentary on the different variation of the kinds of groups that I believe are needed. "Mutual Support Group Variation" is the one this group will be a modification of.

I, a Certified Recovery/Peer Support Specialist, have developed an Autistic Self-Improvement/Advocacy mentorship program. It’s designed to 1st build up our self-confidence & self-esteem that’s necessary to improve our quality of life by helping us become all that we are capable of. This will in turn provide us with a solid foundation for effective self-advocacy in order to instill confidence in those around us to give us more opportunities to do what we do best. This will in turn boost our self-confidence & self-esteem even more, resulting in a self-perpetuating positive feedback loop.
Small Group Itinerary and Check In: This is what we will be doing, with out all of the commentary.
