Of Stone, Iron and Fire – Exploring the Stonecrusher Woods
Pocono Heritage Land Trust's 2018 Natural Places and Open Spaces (NP&OS) walk series continues with another naturalist-led "walk & talk" on Saturday, August 18th.
Perched on an overlook high above the beautiful Brodhead Creek Valley near Analomink, Stroud Township’s Stonecrusher Preserve will be the backdrop for this next in a series of walks and talks about both the natural and human history of Monroe County. Join local naturalist and long-time PHLT volunteer Don Miller for a Saturday afternoon “Woods Walk and Natural History Talk” exploring this Stroud Township open space. Both natural history and railroad history information will be shared during this afternoon exploration both on and off trail in the “woods of the Stonecrusher”.
Participants will meet at 1:00 in the south parking area of Stroud Township’s Pinebrook Park, located just off Rt. 191 (across from the Pinebrook Camp), for carpooling to the Stonecrusher Preserve access. This NP&OS walk/talk is free and open to the public with donations accepted for PHLT’s Land Stewardship fund.
Preregistration is suggested and confirmed by calling PHLT at 570-424-1514, or registering on our website:
