Voto Latino, the Voter Participation Center, Bright Spots, And YOU at Manny's!

Election Day 2020 is less than 9 months away, and control of the White House and the Senate could come down to a few states that don’t have a great track record when it comes to voter suppression and turnout, and where young people and people of color are underrepresented in the electorate. It’s clear that registering, re-registering, and protecting huge numbers of voters in battleground states is essential.

Hopefully you’ve been thinking about what you can do to help beat Trump and the GOP in November. We have some ideas! Please join Bright Spots (more on us below!) at Manny’s on Thursday, February 27th to learn from Voto Latino and the Voter Participation Center about their efforts to register voters. We’ll hear about the impact these organizations are having right now and and how we can support them. We’ll also connect you to engaging and easy volunteer activities, and enjoy a glass of wine or a beer from the bar with friends. RSVP here to attend.

The time to register those voters is now and research shows your financial support and effort will have a much larger impact now than it will in the fall.

We’ll also be writing letters during the event to encourage people in battleground states to register to vote through Vote Forward.

Bright Spots is a small group of friends, primarily based in the San Francisco area, who want to make America more just and democratic. In early 2017, we began meeting every month to identify the very best organizations that are working hard to level the playing field of our democracy—by registering voters, ensuring people can (and do) turn out on Election Day, and supporting progressive candidates up and down the ballot. The groups we support have smart, data-driven strategies and a track record of effective work. This year, we’re hosting a series of events to introduce them to the broader SF community—and make sure they have the resources to be maximally effective this year.

Voto Latino Foundation (VLF) is a non-profit, non-partisan 501(c)(3) organization that empowers American Latinos to claim a better future through civic participation. VLF was founded in 2004 as a next-generation, civic media organization focused on reaching young Latinos ages 18-35. Since its inception, VLF has reached more than 55 million households, ensuring constituents are educated and informed of the power of their voice through their vote.

The Voter Participation Center (VPC) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization founded in 2003 to help members of the Rising American Electorate register and vote. Since then, the organization has helped more than 4.2 million people register and cast ballots.
We hope to see you there! RSVP here .
