Sorrel Saturdays at Redwood Grove Nature Preserve
Join your fellow community members on the first Saturday of every month during winter 2019 and spring 2020 to restore Adobe Creek's banks and Redwood Grove's native habitat. Depending on weather, we will be weeding, mulching, staking willows, and installing native plants.
Waivers/Registration: All participants must register & approve the online waiver through this Eventbrite page. Youth under 18 must have their legal guardian approve the waiver on their behalf.
Parking: Park on University Avenue and walk down the driveway into the Preserve; there is no parking available in Redwood Grove.
Alternate Transportation: There is a bus stop at the corner of El Monte & University a couple blocks away from the entrance of the preserve. There are multiple Santa Clara Valley Transit Authority bus routes that arrive at this point. Here is a
Meeting Place: We will meet by the cottage and the kiosk at the base of the driveway in the preserve.
Prepare for Working Outdoors:
Water bottle
Long pants, long sleeves recommended
Sturdy close-toed shoes that can get dirty
Hat/sunscreen or rain gear/boots
Plan for potential exposure to sun, poison oak, ticks
We will provide gloves, tools, and light snacks.
Grassroots Ecology encourages people from all identities and backgrounds to participate in our programs. Many of our programs are outdoors and involve moving and working in a variety of landscapes. If you have accessibility concerns (i.e., allergies, limited mobility, learning differences), our projects are flexible and we are happy to work with you.
