As many of you know, since 2017 the Land Conservancy has been managing a large-scale restoration project in the Niagara Gorge. To fortify and restore its health, we are removing invasive plant species and replacing them with native trees, shrubs, grasses, and wildflowers that provide better habitat for our native birds, mammals, and insects. If you enjoy getting your hands in the dirt please join our Gorge Project Manager, Dr. Graham Tuttle, to remove invasive spotted knapweed from the area before it seeds. This will give unique native plants room to grow. The event starts at 4pm but feel free to join us anytime between 4 pm and 7 pm. Tools, snacks, and drinks will be supplied, and Graham will train you before you get started. Participants should gather in the building on the west side of the Whirlpool State Park Parking Lot at 4 pm. After that, look for the signs and find the group south of the parking lot.
