Voices of the Unheard
SPIRIT AWAKENING FOUNDATION (SAF) presents its annual VOICES OF THE UNHEARD/L.O.V.E. spoken word and theatrical performance fundraiser hosted by Rev. Michael Beckwith at Skirball Cultural Center, Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 7 - 9 p.m. This event features the writings of incarcerated and at-risk children and young adults in the Los Angeles County juvenile justice system. All proceeds and donations raised from this event go towards funding the art-based programming, mentorship, career counseling, and financial aid services SAF provides for some of the most vulnerable, underserved and neglected youth in LA County.
The powerful, heart-pounding and soul-searching words written by our most vulnerable youth are performed through song, dance, poetry and storytelling. This year, SAF honors longtime Board Member Bertrand Christian Esq., Actor and Comedian Debra Wilson, and The California Wellness Foundation, with CEO Judy Belk.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Showtime begins promptly at 7 p.m. followed by V.I.P reception at 8 p.m.
