"Voices for Children" benefiting Williamson County CASA

Event ended

Please join Williamson County CASA for its 2014 Voices for Children event, and an evening with "Music City Hit-Makers"--featuring some of Nashville's most elite songwriters! The Music City Hit-Makers are lending a unique “song meets symphony” aspect to the evening, with featured artists sharing the stories behind some of the biggest hits they’ve penned. Grammy award-winner and two-time ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Brett James will lead the night’s performance with fellow award-winning artists Jessi Alexander and Kyle Jacobs. It's an extraordinary musical experience—like only Nashville talent can offer—that you don't want to miss!
Guests will kick off the night with a cocktail hour that includes hors d’oeuvres compliments of Strategic Hospitality, the brains behind Pinewood Social and Catbird Seat. Plus, WCCASA is hosting both a unique silent and live auction with prizes that include a Dolly Parton-signed mandolin, a football autographed by Tennessee Titans’ quarterback Jake Locker, a guitar endorsed by ABC's Nashville cast and more!

All proceeds will support Williamson County CASA’s efforts to stand up for a child’s right to be safe and loved. Williamson County CASA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children within the Williamson County court system. This past year, 74 compassionate, highly trained volunteers who are empowered by the Williamson County Juvenile court, served 330 children. WC CASA's volunteers are specially trained to know how to understand the needs of each child and then advocate for those needs in the court system. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer is the one reliable adult presence in their lives. Volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home.

Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer Brett James has been one of the most prolific and versatile songwriters in Nashville having had more than three hundred of his songs recorded by major label recording artists. James has become a fixture on the Billboard Country chart with thirteen #1 songs and scores of top 20 singles to his credit. In 2009, Brett achieved the Music Row “Triple Play,” an award for three #1 songs in a single chart year, not once, but twice! These six #1‘s; ‘It’s America,’ Rodney Atkins, ‘Out Last Night,’ Kenny Chesney, ‘Cowboy Cassanova,’ Carrie Underwood, ‘Summer Nights,’ Rascal Flatts, ‘The Truth’ Jason Aldean, and ‘The Man I Want To Be’ Chris Young earned James ASCAP Songwriter of the Year for a second time in October 2010. Outside the writer’s room, Brett’s talents have earned production credits that include Taylor Swift, Jessica Simpson, Josh Gracin and MCA recording artist Kip Moore who’s single “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck” was a breakthrough smash in 2012! Brett has toured with the CMA Songwriters series since 2010 sharing the stage with some of country music’s biggest stars; Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Chris Young, Martina McBride and many more! James currently has four Top 20 songs climbing the Country charts with Dierks Bentley, Brantley Gilbert, Thompson Square and Danielle Bradbery.

Jessi Alexander is one of Nashville’s most prolific and successful songwriters. She has continued to dominate the charts with cuts including Reba’s, "When Love Gets A Hold Of You"; Blake Shelton’s two-week #1 “Drink On It” as well as his three-week #1 “Mine Would Be You”; Lee Brice’s #1 smash “I Drive Your Truck”; and Eric Paslay’s current single “Song About A Girl”. Jessi has also become an awards show darling in 2013: Brice’s “I Drive Your Truck” earned her the Country Music Association Award for “Song Of The Year”, the Nashville Songwriter Association International Award for “Song Of The year”; and nominations for GRAMMY “Country Song Of the Year” as well as the Academy of Country Music’s “Song Of The Year”. Shelton’s “Mine Would Be You” scored her a second slot for both a GRAMMY “Country Song of The Year” nomination as well as an Academy of Country Music “Song Of The Year” nomination. Not restricted to one genre, Jessi recently had her song “Didn’t Know Love” recorded by Celine Dion, and signed a new worldwide creative deal with Kobalt Music Publishing. With her unfailing work ethic, commitment to craftsmanship, and passion for music without boundaries or borders, Jessi Alexander is poised to climb as high as her imagination will take her… Lookout world, here she comes!

Kyle Jacobs is the co-writer on Garth Brooks’ single, “More Than a Memory,” which became the first song to debut at Number One on Billboard's Country Singles chart in its entire history. In addition to sharing rights on Kimberley Locke’s Top 10 hit, “8th World Wonder,” Jacobs' songs have been recorded by artists such as Trace Adkins, Jo Dee Messina, Craig Morgan, Tim McGraw, Kellie Pickler (his wife), Clay Walker Kelly Clarkson and many others. Jacobs has also collaborated with top writers and artists including Darius Rucker, Rachel Thibodeau and Wynonna.
