Virtual knit group supporting moms with critically ill hospitalized children.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic we are meeting through Zoom. If you haven’t been able to meet with us in person now is your chance to learn more about our mission and help support moms of critically ill hospitalized children. Our signature shrugs are easy to make - and we will happily get you started. We have some pattern ideas and yarn suggestions on our website www.HugsthroughShrugs.org but beginning April 2020 we will be offering our own Shrug Club Kits. Each kit contains yarn, pattern, 2 ties to "lace" the sleeves closed AND US19 circular needles. A Shrug Club membership lasts one year from date of purchase and your first kit will cost $50. If you choose to donate your shrug - or any shrug made with stash yarns that are comparable, we will swap it for another kit. All additional kits are half price ($25). These additional kits do not include needles or pattern as you have them from your starter kit. Shrugs are included in our care packages that are shipped and delivered to Child Life Specialists in children’s hospitals to help welcome moms of pediatric inpatients. We currently serve several hospitals in NJ, NYU Langone/Brooklyn, Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence, RI, University of Vermont Children s Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC. You don’t have to attend meetings to volunteer. Shrugs can be shipped to us or dropped at the Martinsville Community Center. With enough support we are hoping to add CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia), and Goryeb Children’s Hospital in Morristown to our giving list.
