Urban Roots Volunteer Day

NOTE: EACH VOLUNTEER MUST PERSONALLY REGISTER! One registration required per person. Description Volunteer with Urban Roots to make a difference in your community, connect with local youth leaders, and dig in on a local, urban farm! You’re guaranteed to have a unique experience that allows you to get away from the busyness of daily life without travelling too far from Austin's downtown. You will have a chance to plant, cultivate, or harvest sustainably grown fruits and vegetables and be inspired by Urban Roots youth leaders. 60% of the produce our volunteers help us grow is sold at the farmer’s market and wholesale to support our mission, and 40% is donated to local hunger relief partners to get fresh food into the hands of those who need it. Come dig in with us! For groups: ***GROUPS NEED AN ACCESS CODE TO REGISTER*** We can accomodate one group of up to 15 people on every public volunteer day. Expect your group to be folded in with other individuals for the day’s work. Groups spots are limited, so please inquire as far ahead as possible. Please fill out the following: Group Volunteer Request Form We will follow-up with you ASAP to arrange your group volunteer event date and provide instructions for group registration.   FAQs How do I prepare and what can I bring into the event? All volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes. Individuals wearing open-toed shoes will be asked to change or will be unable to participate, no exceptions. Wear clothes that can get dirty, are appropriate for the weather, and protect from plants (if sensitive). Bring sunscreen and insect repellent if you will need it. We have work gloves that you can borrow, but feel free to bring your own. We recommend that all participants bring a water bottle. We have water available but do not have cups or bottles to provide. How can I contact the organizer with any questions? please email: volunteer@urbanrootsatx.org  Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? Yes. It is preferred that you bring a printed ticket but you can also bring the digitalcopy on your smarphone or other device.   Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends? There must be a ticket for each individual that attends. Each ticket must match the person who attends.
