Brain injury is the most frequent cause of disability and death among children and adolescents in the U.S. Therefore it is important for substance abuse professionals, social workers and mental health counselors working with adolescents to: be familiar with the signs and symptoms of brain injury; be able to identify possible incidents of brain injury; respond appropriately to the initial injury; and to have resources to assist families and youth. This workshop will address the key issues for professionals outlined above.
