Costs beyond tuition are frequently absent when calculating and communicating the cost of college. Students are often unaware of the additional indirect expenses they will encounter beyond the college bill. Course materials, transportation, housing and food are essential for college success, yet create hardships for students when not calculated accurately or communicated effectively. uAspire, a student-serving nonprofit focused on college affordability, will report on key findings gathered from national data, financial aid experts and students’ lived experience.
Hosted by the Office of Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07), uAspire will provide a brief presentation and panel discussion on key findings from the report, including students sharing their stories about navigating indirect expenses, and policy recommendations to address. Lunch will be provided to registered guests.
