ABOUT RICHARD:
Richard Laible began his career performing magic in 6th grade and continued his comedy-magic act until he had paid his way through college. He met Del Close (Director Second City, Founder iO & acting Coach SNL) at a weekend workshop in Detroit and was asked by Del to come study with him in Chicago. As Del said “We’re starting this thing we call Harold.” He and a friend (Tim Meadows) found an apartment and moved to Chicago.
Richard continued to study with Del and quickly became a ‘House Team’ member of ImprovOlympics (now iO) with Tim, Mick Napier & Dave Razowsky. While performing The Harold Mick started The Annoyance Theater and asked Richard to help him get it off the ground. About a year later, while performing The Real Live Brady Bunch, Richard was hired by The Second City. As Chicago’s The Second Cityimprovisational theater Richard performed in all aspects. He began touring the country doing The Best of Second City, moved to the E.T.C. Stage, then the Mainstage theater, finally becoming Creative Director of Second City Communications, their corporate arm. In 1999 Richard incorporated and went out on his own emceeing business meetings for Fortune 500 companies.
Richard has taught his “Harold Basics” workshop coast to coast (NYC to San Francisco) as well as London, Barcelona, Nuremburg, Amsterdam, Rome & Winnepeg.
