With the summer gradually fading in the distance, we are reminded that the 2017-2018 school year is fastly approaching. With that in mind, we want to extend an invitation to convene and discuss the upcoming school year as well as address any changes in policy and procedure as it relates to the Truancy Intervention Program. The mission of the Truancy Intervention Program is to facilitate an integrated system to meet the needs of the students, families, schools, and the courts by implementing a strategic plan to address and eliminate the obstacles that contribute to the root causes of chronic absenteeism. Partnering with local school districts is our upmost priority. A unified collaborative is necessary to ensure the success of the children and families we serve. Communities all across the country are working diligently on reducing chronic absenteeism by using a comprehensive set of strategies that: 1) prevents absences from occurring, 2) organizes caring and early outreach to families and students before absences add up, and 3) coordinates supports and services for vulnerable students who miss the most school.
