Trauma informed care is a vital foundation of any therapeutic approach, especially in sensitive temperament client populations like the eating disorder population. Traumatic experiences lie on a spectrum and involve a number of factors that influence the impact on the individual. This presentation will introduce a tangible working equation to support clients and clinicians in partnering to better understand the brain-body impact of trauma, as well as suggesting keys for recovery and integration. Dawn’s trauma impact equation, TIE, will explore complexity and severity, developmental stage, nervous system impact, subjective experience, and both the resilience factor. The TIE provides a roadmap for the clinician and the client to partner in exploration of traumatic impact with a spotlight on resilience and potential for post traumatic growth. Utilizing this trauma impact equation, TIE, with evidence-based modalities like EMDR and Neurofeedback will help professionals to more effectively treat the underlying root causes of eating disorders.

Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will be able to identify 5 key components of traumatic impact on an individual.

2. Participants will be able to specify the known rates of sexual abuse in eating disorder clients by diagnosis.
