Toxic City: Birmingham's Dirty Secret

Tuesday, November 13, 6:30 @ Carrigan's Public House
Birmingham residents are surrounded by heavy industry, where soot and chemicals coat homes—and lungs. People have been leaving for decades but many are stuck, unable to afford to get out. The untold stories of those left behind are chronicled in "Toxic City: Birmingham's Dirty Secret," an award-winning documentary directed by Birmingham filmmaker Hunter Nichols.
Many of the issues covered in this 2014 film have played out in the recent federal corruption trial featuring Rep. Oliver Robinson, a Balch & Bingham partner, and a Drummond Coal executive. Come to learn the latest, including how you can participate in the ABC Coke permit hearing on November 15. Together, we can make Greater Birmingham healthier for us all.
The 26-minute documentary is followed by a 7 p.m. discussion with Kyle Whitmire, Alabama Media Group Political Commentator and Kirsten Bryant, Gasp Outreach Director. A large crowd is expected and we cannot guarantee a seat unless you RSVP here with the FREE TICKET option: https://toxiccity2018.eventbrite.com or below, under TICKETS.
