As the gallery manager of The Awakenings Foundation, I want to reach out to say brava to all the performers and those who made this event possible! I was the exceedingly loud encouragement in the front row who was so grateful to hear the stories and experiences of those on stage. As someone who works in support of survivors of sexual violence on a daily basis, I felt so moved by the strong voices and bravery I know it takes to open up to a group of strangers. I'm going to leave some information below about my work. I'd love for the performers, organizers, and anyone who attended this show (and those who couldn't) to get in touch with us! Thanks again and wonderful job! The Awakenings Foundation is an organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for rape and sexual abuse survivors who wish to pursue art for the purpose of self-expression and healing. Our Ravenswood-based Art Gallery is a special place that we’ve built to showcase the stories of survival that our artists share, with our community of advocates. Our goal is to help survivors find a sense of empowerment and peace through artistic expression, while also encouraging a candid conversation with the public about the cultural taboos surrounding rape and sexual abuse. You can learn more about us by visiting our facebook while our website is being redeveloped!

Excitingly, and unfortunately, we are sold out for tonight's performance. Please support this (unrelated to our performance but also a part of the nationwide festival) event later this month!

Hi everyone! Paige Shin and I are Northwestern journalists who will be interviewing and filming select storytellers and performers at tonight's event. We are also very interested in interviewing any who attend to learn more about how performance art can be a unique platform for women to express their views on inter-sectional feminism. Please feel free to message us if you know you'll be interested in being interviewed. Thanks!
