During a time when millions of Jews were facing death, music found a way into their lives. They wrote poetry and composed music as they lived, fought, and died in the ghettos across Europe. Harriet Bennish invites you to experience the haunting music of these rarely performed Yiddish songs, which tell the story of everyday life in the ghetto.

This event will also feature accompaniment by accordionist Ben Gown, cellist Diana Parmeter, and Klezmer Juice bandleader and clarinet player Gustavo Bulgach. Yiddish poetry readings will be performed by Miri Koral, CEO and Founding Director of the California Institute for Yiddish Culture and Language; and the Los Angeles Jewish Community Children's Choir will perform several Yiddish songs under the leadership of Dr. Michelle Green Willner.
