A quick note about the cover charge from Tara:
"I've been one of the organizers of SubDrift for six years. It's been my privilege and delight to be a part of this space, to watch our growing community's talent and to work with such outstanding people to put on these shows. I have always felt strongly that above all else, SubDrift should be an accessible space - as open as possible to our NYC and South Asian community.
That said, we have to announce a change in policy. Starting from this mic we will be instituting a $5 cover for performers ONLY, and a 2 drink minimum we ask you to observe. Parkside has been very generous to us, but at the end of the day they are still a bar, and they do need to keep their lights on. As of now we are frankly just not drinking enough. As well, we the organizers, have been paying to rent this space out of our own pockets for the last year. We host SubDrift for love - but in the long run that is not going to work out. It's the unfortunate reality of NYC.
