New Student Advising and Registration (NSAR) - Olympia Campus

WELCOME TO SOUTH PUGET SOUND COMMUNITY COLLEGE!

NEW STUDENT ADVISING AND REGISTRATION

The New Student Advising and Registration (NSAR) session is the last step of the enrollment process and is designed to assist students as you register for courses and establish a connection with the advisors on campus. Consider this NSAR session as your first advising appointment. As a new or returning student you will be given instructions and support from our advising staff as you register for your first quarter classes. During this session you will be able to ask the advising staff any questions you may have, have your transcripts and test scores evaluated for placement, and receive information about the network of resources to our succeed provided to students on our campus.

To make your registration experience positive, please read the following before signing up for a  session:

 ● You MUST have completed the following:

• APPLIED to the college for the upcoming quarter

• ACTIVATED your SPSCC student email account

• COMPLETED a placement test or have transcripts in hand at the session for placement evaluation.

● The NSAR process lasts about two hours - please make arrangements to be available for the entire session.

● Sessions start ON TIME. LATE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED. Make sure you give yourself adequate time to get to campus, find campus parking, and navigate your way to the Advising Lab located on the 2nd floor of Buiding 22. Check-in begins 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.

● Children, partners, parents, funding agents, etc. are NOT allowed in lab. Please make sure you have made childcare arrangements. The college does not offer childcare for students attending the NSAR. Those who are here to support you in your registration process are welcome to have a seat in our lobby while you are in lab. You will have an opportunity to consult with these individuals when you are in active registration (this is during the second hour of lab).

Once you have completed the on-line NSAR, you can make an appointment with your advisor via your Compass portal.
