Creative Writing Inspired by Contemporary Americans.
Saturday, Feb. 1, 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. G Street Lobby.
In this creative writing workshop, we will gain inspiration from the portraits and words of icons such as Michelle Obama, LL Cool J, and Toni Morrison, who are featured in the National Portrait Gallery exhibition “Contemporary Americans.” We will explore themes such as social justice, hope, and the American Dream, and write our own stories or poems in response. Open to high school students (in 9th-12th grade).
Please plan to arrive at the 8th and G Street, NW entrance at 9:45am so we may begin promptly at 10:00am. Because this workshop begins prior to public hours, those more than 15 minutes late will not be admitted into the museum.
