Join Chicago artist Stephen Eichhorn and Cincinnati curator Austin Radcliffe of Things Organized Neatly for a discussion about Eichhorn’s artist practice and his current installation “The Flower Knows”, which is on view in Chicago Athletic Association’s Drawing Room from September 1 to October 16.

While Eichhorn is known for his intricately detailed two-dimensional works, “The Flower Knows” is comprised of four new sculptures created exclusively for the Drawing Room. He explores shape and form with nods to ritual and nature while simultaneously drawing inspiration from the architectural details throughout the original woodwork of the Chicago Athletic Association. The freestanding objects are made from vintage found jewelry components considerately arranged much in the same way that Eichhorn approaches his undulating, lush plant collages. Here, the black blooms and shapes are more tangible, elegantly cascading and intertwining.

Stephen Eichhorn lives and works in Chicago. He has had solo exhibitions at the Elmhurst Art Museum, Chicago; CES Gallery, Los Angeles; Johalla Projects, Chicago, and Ebersmoore, Chicago. His work has also been included in group exhibitions at the Museum of Arts and Design, New York; Josée Bienvenu Gallery, New York; and Heaven Gallery, Chicago. Eichhorn received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2006. He will present a solo exhibition at Johalla Projects, Chicago in September 2016 and is the subject of a forthcoming monograph by Zioxla Publishing House.

Austin Radcliffe is a Cincinnati-based curator, writer, and photographer best known for his blog & book titled Things Organized Neatly. Radcliffe has worked in galleries since 2010, with his curatorial debut at Mt Comfort in Indianapolis in 2012. He has gone on to work internationally including projects at Tate Modern and Art Basel, Switzerland. Radcliffe holds a BFA from Herron in Indianapolis and currently splits time between the Midwest and New York.

Is there a catalog or will there be photos of the exhibit posted after the opening for those of us in the hinterlands to see? Thanks!
