Sticks, Stones, & Mud: An Art Exhibition of Children's Friendship with Nature
These art pieces were created outside in the lower Hudson Valley by the students and teaching artists of Strawtown Studio. The exhibition will be displayed for a month in the Art Gallery at Rockefeller Sate Park Preserve from June 24 until July 22! Join us for the Opening Reception & Art Workshop!

The Art Gallery at Rockefeller State Park Preserve is fully accessible to all.

Event Details and Artistry
At Strawtown Studio children make art while immersed in nature, with the seasons, local plants and animals as inspiration. Our artistry combines curated studio materials, with found objects in nature in variety of methods: sculpture, mobiles, printing, painting, collage, sketching and mixed media.
Strawtown also emphasizes respect for nature and all its beings, stewardship and having a very light touch on the earth and environment. Strawtown's outdoor classes are cross curricular, combining ecology, science, and fine art. This provides new lenses and ways to learn from and interact with local parks. Strawtown Studio, a local non profit, has been running children and family Earth Art programs for 15 years, and this collection spans over that time. We are always making new discoveries outside and inventing new curriculum. 
These art pieces are talismans, symbols and charms of special times children spent connecting closely to our natural world. We hope this art exhibit can inspire you to create outside this summer, with nature as your muse.
