Step Afrika!: Drumfolk
Step Afrika! blends percussive dance styles with traditional African dance and integrates songs, storytelling, and humor into each performance.
Drumfolk
is inspired by the Stono Rebellion of 1739, a little-known event in American history that transformed the African experience in America. This program includes excerpts from Drumfolk combined with Step Afrika's award-winning lecture-demonstration on the African-American percussive dance style of stepping.
