When I used to hear the word "cleanse" the first thing I thought of was not eating or only consuming liquids. I was so happy to learn that Ayurveda takes a different approach to "cleansing". Instead of putting our bodies into stress, we work WITH our bodies. Just like the saying goes, the goal is to encourage our bodies to work Smarter not Harder. By feeding ourselves easy to digest food that doesn't require a lot of work to pull out the nutrients, we give our bodies a break to heal, instead of putting all the energy into breaking down foods. Makes sense, right!?
