With tensions reaching a level not seen in decades, the recent Military and economic sanctions imposed on Iran have, once again, given rise to an increase in nation-state sponsored malicious cyber activity. On January 6th, 2020, Homeland Security accordingly warned U.S businesses to “consider and assess” the threats and possible impacts that a cyberattack would have upon their organization. The likelihood of Iranian cyber adversaries strategically aligning in motive with international APTs and actors is elevated, further increasing the urgency for organizations to adopt methods of assessing their preparedness of cyber threats.
