We STRONGLY encourage you to prepare ahead of time to take your placement test because your scores will determine what classes you will be able to take during your first semester, and beyond. Please take the placement test seriously. Being properly prepared can save you time and money! A student should plan on being on campus for at least two hours.
Reading and English
Both are untimed, computer-based tests, consisting of multiple choice and essay formats. You can find sample questions for the Next-Generation reading test along with sample essays for the English test, WritePlacer at this link:
Math
The math test is untimed, computer-based, and multiple choice. You can find practice exams for College Readiness or College Algebra at this link:
You may use any basic four-function, scientific, or graphing calculator with the exception of calculators with algebra system functionality installed. If you are unsure if your calculator is allowed, bring it with you on testing day; assessment staff will gladly verify if your calculator is allowed. The assessment center does have a selection of basic four-function calculators available that you may borrow in the event you forget yours.
What to bring on exam day?
The Southwest campus assessment center is located in the Student Center (Building A) Room 100A. Please check in at the Advising Center. Vistor parking is available in the student lot and vistor lot.
