South Sudan Unite 2019 will be in Minneapolis, Minnesota from July 19th to July 21st. This weekend-long event is FREE and all are welcome!
South Sudan Unite is a celebration of our unique and evolving culture. It is both an event and an initiative. As an event, it is an annual gathering of our people in the spirit of peace and unity, in which we celebrate each other. As an initiative, it is a community-building effort focused on mobilizing our diaspora in solidarity.
The goal of SSU is to create unity amongst South Sudanese in diaspora and at home by celebrating our unique cultures through the arts, fashion, professional development, mentorship, and community development initiatives – with a focus on investing in young people.
SSU 2019 is happening in Minneapolis, Minnesota, across several locations. The weekend-long event is FREE and all are welcome.

Panel and Workshops: We believe it’s crucial to inspire and empower youth to maximize their potential and also to celebrate their achievements. The goal of the moderated panel and workshops led by successful South Sudanese professionals is to empower youth to become leaders of their world by providing guidance and creating a strong network of positive role models to inspire, support, and develop our young people.
Mental Health Segment: With academic pressures, pressure from family, and today’s pervasive social media landscape, youth can lack confidence and identity, have low aspirations, and disengage from school, outside activities, and relationships. We create a safe place to discuss their everyday challenges. The mental health segment is led by qualified professionals with years of experience in the field.
