In 1727, Benjamin Franklin created the Leather Apron Club, which he described as "a society of ingenious men."
His idea was to gather top thinkers and merchants to exchange ideas for personal development and business growth. The Leather Apron Club came up with ideas that lead to the founding of the University of Pennsylvania, the first lending library and the first volunteer fire brigade, among other public works.
Almost 300 years later, it is time for women to come together in a Society of Ingenious Women, to support each other in personal development, business development and to enrich the community.
After our last get together, Jan wrote: " [the meeting]...inspired me to think more about what I and we can do to develop and spread the "new" way of doing things. I'll be thinking and jotting some notes down over the weekend."
