More than one million people, from across Minnesota, the U.S. and internationally, attended Super Bowl LIVE events on Nicollet Mall during ten days of music and festivities leading up to Super Bowl LII. There were a record number of credentialed media – 5800 to be exact.

You can imagine - there was just a little need to have clear, accurate communication across the event’s operational period. The Minnesota Super Bowl Joint Information Center (JIC) was activated for 11 days. Led by the City of Minneapolis, the JIC coordinated local, regional, state and federal public agency communications to ensure timely and vetted information related to public safety, transit, traffic and transportation.

City of Minneapolis Communications Director Greta Bergstrom, and a strong team of City public information officers, along with many partners, coordinated agency information, interviews, news releases, news conferences, photo opportunities, video and social media content throughout the operational period to ensure a safe and welcoming event experience for residents, visitors and businesses alike.
