Shut Up & Write!™ Highlands

Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 6:00 on Friday evening.
Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you ve written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done.

SCHEDULE:
6:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros.
6:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour.
7:10 - (the end) chat / take off / keep writing. Heine Brothers closes at 10pm so you have plenty of time.
OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 7:10. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing.
BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
- Whatever you need to be able to write!
- Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the cafe’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons.
- Heine Brothers on Douglass Loop has a massive space with plenty of plugs and power strips, so you should have no problem finding a port for your charger.

Other Important Details:
Heine Brothers has free WiFi. When you connect, it will prompt you to sign in, but should remember you after that.
TRAVEL / PARKING: Street Parking, first come first serve.
SEATING INFO: I ll have a sign up marking the Shut Up and Write event, so look for our table!
GUIDELINES: Heine Brothers has the standard coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and pastry faire. In the summer, they also have lemonade which is DELICIOUS. Please thank our hosts by purchasing something.
