Beginner
Using original tin patterns from the 1920s, learn basic pattern-making for shoes and how to take exact foot measurements for a custom pair. Choose from an array of leathers and begin the shoemaking process, which is 100% hands-on, start to finish — from cutting leather to lacing the uppers together and hand-lacing soles to the uppers. Your final product will be unique, comfortable footwear you’ll proudly wear! All levels welcome; some hand/finger strength & dexterity needed for sewing.
Upon enrolling, students will be sent a foot outline form along with explicit directions to be sent back to the instructor prior to class.
Materials fee:
A materials fee of $250 is due to the instructor at the time of the class.
Supply list:
If you’re sensitive to glue, bring a breathing mask. Everything else is included in the cost of the workshop.
There will be a 1-hour lunch break each day.
