Music therapist, educator, social activist, performer and conflict resolution consultant, Sharon Katz MM/MT-BC has worked in prisons, schools, universities, mental health facilities, drug & alcohol rehabilitation centers, youth empowerment projects, HIV/AIDS orphanages, and community development programs. In support of Nelson Mandela's vision for ending apartheid and peacefully transitioning to a non-racial democracy, Sharon founded The Peace Train in South Africa in 1992 to pilot her African model of music therapy in conflict resolution and community development.
Performance artist, vocalist and educator Wendy Khethiwe Quick has presented performances of peace, love and unity in the United States, Ghana and South Africa. Wendy joined Sharon Katz and The Peace Train as a vocalist, dancer and conflict resolution educator in 2008 and has travelled across the U.S. and South Africa with the group. She also helped to build the Friends of The Peace Train assisted school in a rural area close to Durban KwaZulu Natal, South Africa.
Jan Jeffries known as Ms. Rhythm Speaker is unrivaled as a consummate percussionist. A long time resident of Honolulu, Hawaii, Jan is from Philadelphia where she began her career in dancing and drumming at the Sydney School of Dance. A lifetime studying rhythms from around the world has made Jeffries well versed in a variety of hand percussion and kit techniques. She has performed, taught, and composed music around the world with people of all ages and special needs and has been touring with Sharon Katz & The Peace Train at festivals in the USA for the past two years.
