Shabbat Lunch & Learn at Bais Abe

Bais Abraham Congregation welcomes you to join us for a Shabbat Lunch & Learn following Shabbat morning services (approximately 11:30 am). The Lunch & Learn is sponsored by Stewart Shilcrat & Paula Lemerman to commemorate the yahrzeit of Micah Abraham Lemerman Shilcrat z”l. The speaker will be Tom Smith, President, Karla Smith Behavioral Health. He will speak on the topic, “Suicide and the Role of the Faith Community.”
Tom is retired but spends much of his time on projects for Karla Smith Behavioral Health named in honor of his daughter who had bipolar disorder and died by suicide in 2003. He is the author of eight books, including The Unique Grief of Suicide. He served as the Director of the Pastoral Services Department for the Catholic Diocese of Belleville, IL prior to his retirement and holds degrees in Theology and Religious Education.
