Sewing 101: Introduction to Sewing

Learn to Sew: Sewing 101 for Adults. Beginning JANUARY 2020

Learn to Sew: Beginner Sewing Series for Adults This 3-week series, of 3 hour classes, is focused on developing a solid foundation of skills for independent and confident sewing. Students will learn how to operate a sewing machine and a serger, develop basic & practical skills, and go beyond the basics by making technique-rich projects! Students will also learn about fabric and a variety of tips & tricks to make sewing fun and successful! Each class will end with a finished project: Week 1 - a drawstring bag, Week 2 - a pair of leggings and Week 3 - a Knit Top. 

Beginner Sewing Series for Adults is a 3-part series. Each class is 3 hours long.  This series will allow new attendees to jump in on any Saturday to begin their 3 weeks!  Classes are limited to 10 atendees per class.

• Saturdays

• January 25, 2020 thru December 19, 2020

•  12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Age Group: Adults (Teens 15 and older are welcome to register)

Skill Level: New to Sewing, Beginner

Fee: $60 for each class you take. Mix them and match them!

Fabric Requirements: Purchase a Materials Kit Pre-Selected for you, bring your own fabric (see details below), or shop at Detroit Fabric Company! Sewing machines, Sergers, tools, and thread for your project are also required. We have a limited number of machines that can be borrowed, Contact Benson to inquire about availability.

Class Location: Detroit Fabric Company 4381, Cwentral Ave. Detroit MI 48210

A minimum of 3 students is required for this class. Registration will close at 6pm the day before the series is to begin. Contact Benson to inquire about availability for a drop in class which costs $25 per hour

*Each class will require a half yard of woven fabric with a draw string, 2.5 yards of knit jersey or similar, yard of elastic

(Booked Classes will be refunded - 30% cancelation fee only in cases of an Emergency)
