Join us for dinner, dialogue and action on (1) What contributes to the problem of too many students being criminalized and sent to jail instead of staying in school where they belong? and (2) What actions are needed to address juvenile justice reform in Douglas County? Community activist, Leo Louis, began a parent and community coalition dedicated to ending policies that perpetuate incarceration over education and will initiate our discussion. Dinner begins at 6:00, followed by an overview by Mr. Louis and A’Jamal Byndon, the Douglas County Disproportionate Minority Contact and Control Coordinator, who will briefly talk about the recent ACLU report, "From the Classroom to the Courtroom: A Review of the Nebraska's School Police Programs.” ACLU Report All are welcome—please register to help with food preparation by Big Mama’s!
