Join us on Saturday, January 26th for Family Volunteer Day! Organized by HandsOn Bay Area and sponsored by The Walt Disney Company, this day of service helps families strengthen bonds to their communities and each other.
This year, HandsOn Bay Area will be partnering with R.O.C.K. (Real Options for City Kids) at Visitacion Valley Middle School. R.O.C.K. is the largest provider of academic and social support for at-risk youth in Visitacion Valley. Since 1994, R.O.C.K. has served the needs of children in the community by providing structured programs that foster personal development within a safe, loving and supportive environment.
Volunteers will make over the rooftop garden to create a tranquil retreat for teachers and students. Activities include creating succulent and herb gardens, planting flowers, painting planter bins in school colors, painting bookend murals on the wall, creating a zen garden, and constructing benches and tables.
Volunteering is a great way for kids and adults to make new friends, develop compassion for their neighbors, and even pick up a new skill or two. Sign up now with your family to make a difference in your community!
