We have been all too accustomed to the throw away lifestyle. If something doesn’t work, throw it out and buy a new one. Because of this behavior our landfills are filling at a rapid rate and electronic waste has become the one of the largest pollution generators. So why not learn how to fix it?!

Bring your broken, non-functioning things: electronics, appliances, computers, toys, bicycles, clothes, etc. for assessment, disassembly, and possible repair. We’ll provide workspace, specialty tools, and guidance to help you disassemble and troubleshoot your item. Whether we fix it or not, you’ll learn more about how it was manufactured and how it worked. This is a family-friendly event: children are heartily invited!

FAQs

Is this event located in the same location each month?

We love to give more opportunity to the San Diego County community, so we have decided to move the SD Fixit Clinic to difference locations of the County each quarter. See below you will find where we will be throughout the year. The location on the registration site itself will change with the current month location.

Upcoming Dates and Location:

  • November 16th - Chula Vista Civic Center Branch Library (over)

  • February 15th - Norman Park Senior Center (over)

  • April 4th- South Bay Earth Day

  • July 18th - TBD

How is the parking?

Parking may be an issue since this will be a big event. Good new! We will be located on the corner closet to Fuddruckers. So you can park your car temporarily to drop off your items, then go park your car.

How many items can I bring to the event?

Please bring one item that needs to repaired and keep in mind we will try our best to solve the problem but not every case is a success.

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Please contact sdfixitclinic@gmail.com for any questions

How can I volunteer to be a coach at the San Diego Fixit Clinics?

If you are interested in volunteering with us please go to the following link and fill out the application. Click here for application

Does this cost money?

No, this is a free event but please keep in mind this is not a free drop off and fix event. This event is hands-on for people that would like learn how to fix their items themselves with the help of our awesome Coaches. It would be great if you could bring your own supplies, but we will have some to share.

There would be costs involved if your item needs additional or replacement parts. We may have some spare parts but it is the responsibility of the attendee to purchase and bring necessary parts the day of the event

Will you accept walk-ins?

If time permits we will take walk-ins. It really depends on how quickly we can repair the items of the registered attendees.

Do you take donations of tools and supplies?

Oh boy do we, if you have any old tools you don’t need please bring them into to the next Fixit Clinic and/or email us at sdfixitclinic@gmail.com to arrange drop off locations.
