We are together on a flight to Hong Kong. As you look out the window down below you see the Pacific Ocean. You calculate we about half way to our destination. We are relaxed, enjoy our coffees.
I’m gently tossing my pen up into the air and catching it. Again and again.
You watch it slowly rise up. As it does you see it slowing. As you expect, at a point it rises no higher. For a moment it appears to have stopped. For just a tiny fraction of a second it looks motionless. No longer rising, not yet falling.
Is it motionless?
As the old line goes, “are you going to believe what I say, or your lying eyes?
