Real Food Real Stories with Dru Rivers
STORIES FOR CURIOUS EATERS
For all that divides us, food and story connect us.
This season, in partnership with Whole Foods Market, we’ll be exploring the theme of stewardship. What does it mean to be stewards of our selves and our lands? How can we think more critically about stewardship as eaters?
On November 14, we'll gather for bites, drinks + a story with Dru Rivers. Dru has been farming for 36 years at her farm, Full Belly Farm, located in the beautiful Capay Valley. She is co-owner, managing and operating over 400 acres of certified organic production. At Full Belly, they grow over 80 different crops, providing year-round employment for farm labor. One of the farm’s goals is to integrate farm production with longer-term environmental stewardship. This means using cover crops that fix nitrogen and provide organic matter for the soil, selling produce within a 120-mile radius of the farm, and planting habitat areas for beneficial insects and wildlife. Dru is also a proud mother and grandmother of 4 children and 10 grandchildren, many of whom live at the farm!
Join us to hear more of Dru's story! We promise you’ll leave with nourished and inspired.
