The main events of Raptor Fest will begin at 10am in the day use area. Local author, Darryl McGrath, will discuss her book Flight Paths and will be available for autographs. Mike Lemery, a local videographer, will share bald eagle footage, and his experience filming these incredible birds. Live birds of prey will be present all day, accompanied by wildlife rehabilitators from Whispering Willow Wild Care and Outpost #4, and there will be two live bird talks with Silent Wings and Audubon Sharon. The day will also feature kids activities, an owl pellet dissection, bird box building, as well food with the Schodack Landing Fire Department. There will be a $6 fee per vehicle to enter the park after 8am. Make your camping reservations now!

If you are interested in volunteering at Raptor Fest, please contact the Park at (518) 732-0187 to apply. We have numerous slots to fill with volunteers for everything from bird box building, to welcoming guests, to arts and crafts. Volunteers will be asked to fill at least one two-hour slot, and they will get to enter the park without a Vehicle Use Fee.

Who has seen a bald eagle this winter?
Caroline Girard Cartier
-- 17/03/2017 18:10
We actually saw 6 within a few days. 3 at one location and 3 at another. Each time it was 2 adults with one immature. The first 3 were spotted in Columbia County just a few miles from home. The other 3 were just south of Kingston.

I've seen 14 at one time this year in cohoes. Mostly immature eagles. I will be showing footage of them stealing fish from ducks and fighting over fish at the raptor fest in may!

I've seen a mating pair three times in the past month heading south on 9J just below the Schodack Park entrance (up to 20 miles south). I always watch for them! My husband travels north on 9J and has seen three soaring together on four occasions. Always amazing!
