Dr. Eric Deshaies

Eric Deshaies, MD, medical director of the Crouse Neuroscience Institute, will discuss therapies and research efforts in the treatment of stroke during the next free, public health lecture hosted at 7 p.m. June 26 by 100 Black Men of Syracuse and Black Nurses Rock.

The 90-minute event, the sixth in the monthly public health lecture series, will be held at the South Side Innovation Center, 2610 South Salina St. in Syracuse. Deshaies, who is a founder of the Deshaies Stroke Research Foundation, is a specialist in endovascular and cerebrovascular neurosurgery. As a highly sought-after neurosurgeon, Deshaies treats brain aneurysms, skull-based and brain stem tumors and other related medical issues.

The free community lecture series, which is held the fourth Monday of each month, will conclude at 7 p.m. July 24 with a lecture on prostate cancer. No advance registration is required for the lecture series.

Previous topics in the lecture series covered diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, mental health services in the black community, local aging services and heart attack and blood pressure screenings.
